Objective: 

The Executive Committee of the International Federation of Fe y Alegría, meeting in Caracas, Venezuela, after the XXVI Congress, established as the objective of the XXVII Congress “Education for educators”: to elaborate a proposal for the education of Fe y Alegría educators as an instrument to strengthen the identity of our educators and the quality of our education.

Background: 

The X International Federation Assembly of Fe y Alegría, on the XXVI Congress Education in and for Liberating and Productive Work in Caracas, Venezuela, chose for the XXVII Congress of FIFyA to be held in Cochabamba, Bolivia in 1996, the theme: “Education for Educators”.

The X Assembly, in selecting this theme intended to deepen the reality of the integral formation of Fe y Alegría educators through the countries, in order to define a comprehensive education, to establish the objective of the education of educators in the Movement, to specify the competencies in the different areas (human, administrative, pedagogical, socio-political and spiritual) and finally to establish the respective action lines.

The Congress:

In the XXVII Congress “Education for educators” focused on formation as an instrument to strengthen the identity of educators and the quality of education. Over the days, the participants devote themselves into the inner search, on the basis of reflected and shared experience, in order to get the training elements that guarantee the strengthening of the identity and quality of our education. The Congress was based on the study of the educational situation in Latin America and the experiences of Fe y Alegría in the different countries. The process of reflection was enlightened by conferences and group dynamics that formulated the lines of action for training.
