Objective:
The Executive Committee of FIFyA established as the objective of the XXXI Congress “Popular Education, Community and Integral Sustainable Human Development”: To deepen the reflection on the conception and practice of a Popular Education that contributes to the promotion of Integral Sustainable Human Development processes in the communities.
Background:
The XIV Assembly, held after the XXX Congress, proposed the continuity of the reflection on Integral Sustainable Human Development, in articulation with the topics of Popular Education and Community. Following the Assembly’s mandate, at the 31st International Congress “Popular Education, Community and Integral Sustainable Human Development” it was agreed to deepen reflection on the demands of Popular Education in which the community becomes the subject and fundamental factor of social change, and on the guidelines and strategies that allow Fe y Alegría to promote its actions from the approach of Integral Sustainable Human Development.
The aim was to generate a theoretical-conceptual framework, strategies and concrete actions that would enable the first of the lines proposed at the Congress to be put into practice: “To contribute, through our educational and social action programmes, to the promotion of Integral Sustainable Human Development processes in the communities”.
The Congress:
The Congress deepened reflection on the demands of Popular Education, where the community assumes itself as the subject and fundamental factor of social change, and on strategies for sustainable development that will enable communities to improve their quality of life.
